Foreign currencies such as the British pound, Japanese yen, the euro or the Swiss franc traded against the US dollar or are traded against other foreign currencies. Foreign currencies are traded either for spot or for delivery over the counter at large virtual banks or investment banking firms. Futures contracts for foreign currency are traded on organized exchanges such as the Chicago Mercantile exchange.
